Tattoo

Look into those eyes… they could tattoo the pain this cat has seen onto your heart.  Tattoo came in with his siblings, and he was the one who kept hanging back, kept finding it hardest to trust.  He didn’t want to let go of some of his wildness, and he was not sure the new situation ahead was better than the trauma his family had left behind.  This seems to me more than understandable, and it’s a wonder so many cats trust us immediately the way they do.  How can they know our intentions?  We can’t explain to them that we plan to make sure they are never cold, alone, starving, threatened, ever again.  They just know we have the control.

Tattoo really enjoyed having a cat hammock, and he started to relax.  Our cats always get blankets and toys, but something about the hammock showed him that we planned to elevate him gently in life, or that our machinations weren’t all about control… we wanted him to have equal footing.  Of course, extra treats, playtime, and catnip also helped.

Tattoo is finally ready for the adoption floor.  He may not run up to you and jump in your lap right away, but he is a cat worth getting to know.  He has seen some things that left a tattoo on his heart, but these things didn’t break him.  He wants to trust, to love, to be loved.  Could you be the person who gives Tattoo forever?
